What if I encounter an error during installation?

Almost any installation problem can be resolved by restarting your PC, turning off all memory-resident programs (especially programs like virus-scanners that affect the files being installed), and then running the installation again. However, there is a problem in Windows XP that prevents certain types of files from being written, so you may encounter a message that says, "Error 1931. The Windows Installer service cannot update the system file C:\...\OLE2.DLL because the file is protected by Windows ..." In this case, you should respond by clicking "OK" and complete the installation anyway. Then download and install the FREE version 2.2 update, which corrects the problems caused by the first installation.

What should I do if the musical scores look like funny characters rather than musical notes?

There are special fonts that were included in your installation, and they may not yet be recognized by your PC as being available. Therefore, use the Windows Explorer (or some other folder viewer) to find "C:\WINDOWS\FONTS" (or use the Windows Control Panel to find "Fonts." In the menu of that window, select "File," followed by "Install New Font." In the pop-up dialog box, navigate to the "C:\WINDOWS\FONTS" and in that folder select (highlight) all fonts that begin with the name "Hymnastics." Then click "OK" and the fonts should now be installed correctly.

What do I need to install for projection in an auditorium?

You will need a PC projector, an appropriate cable to connect the projector to your PC, a screen upon which to project, and possibly a peripheral card that allows your PC to connect to a second monitor (most laptop PCs already have this built in). We also recommend that a wireless remote control be included if the worship leader is the one controlling the presentation (the remote may need to be pre-programmed to imitate the PgDn and PgUp keystrokes on the PC). Follow the instructions provided with the projector and the remote control to connect these items together. Then set up your PC so that the same display that appears on your main monitor is also sent to the output port for the second monitor. The Hymnastics program does NOT support a different display on the second monitor than that which appears on the first monitor -- this is so that the main PC can be used as a "foldback" monitor, showing the same display to the worship leader as projected for the entire group. The worship leader can control the presentation with the remote while being able to see the same display that everyone else sees!

How should I set up the PC for best projection viewing?

For best public viewing, the Windows taskbar should be hidden. To do this, click your right mouse button on "Start" and then click "Properties." Select the "Taskbar" tab in the pop-up window, and make sure that "Auto-hide the taskbar" has a checkmark next to it (click the box to make it checked). Click "Apply" and then click "OK."
